Recently, Shanghai Puhe Lütan (Green Carbon) — a joint investment by Sunpower and partners — has successfully completed pilot testing of the world's first ≥1.0MPa oxygen-pressurized fluidized bed biomass gasification unit, confirming its readiness for industrial scale-up. This achievement marks a major breakthrough for China in the field of biomass gasification technology.

Using corn straw pellets and salix psammophila pellets as feedstock in separate trials, the pilot plant stably operated for over 168 hours each time. Under high-pressure conditions of 1.0MPa, it achieved a daily feed capacity of 100 tons, with gasification temperatures consistently exceeding 800°C. Key performance metrics included a carbon conversion rate exceeding 98%, a useful gas composition 70%, and extremely low tar content. The results demonstrate outstanding adaptability to different biomass feedstocks and high conversion efficiency, with technical indicators reaching internationally advanced levels, paving a new pathway for efficient biomass energy utilization.

The success of this pilot test not only verifies the feasibility of the technical route and lays a foundation for subsequent large-scale production and commercial operation, but also connects with downstream industrial needs through products like green hydrogen and green methanol. It significantly enhances China's international competitiveness in the biomass energy sector.
Sunpower will continue to deepen cooperation with partners such as Shanghai Puming, LONGi Green Energy Technology, and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company to accelerate the industrialization of this technology. The aim is to support the development of green, zero-carbon industrial parks, facilitate low-carbon transitions in sectors like shipping and petrochemicals, and contribute "Chinese wisdom" to the global energy transition.
